제목  Probing galaxy evolution in the metric of the cosmic web

Abstract

   The cosmic web is the anisotropic environment in which galaxies form and evolve and is expected to shape their properties across cosmic time. It has been found, both in simulations and observations, that the dynamical influence of the cosmic web is encoded in the distribution of angular momentum and orientation of galaxies. However it is still not obvious wether this large-scale environment (beyond its averaged effect traced by the local density) is needed to explain integrated scalar properties, such as morphology, star-formation rate and type, which depend not only on the mass but also on the past and present gas accretion.

In this talk, I will present a measurement of the impact of filaments on galaxy properties (mass and type) in 2D using the photometric redshifts of the COSMOS2015 catalog. A similar analysis is led in  the hydrodynamical Horizon-AGN simulated lightcone to assess the robustness of the detection. The measured signal is in agreement with recent findings in independent spectroscopic surveys (VIPERS and GAMA).
They are consistent with a picture in which the cosmic web drives anisotropic tides which impact the assembly history of galaxies (hence their observed properties).
